Recoil Rally 2020 - September 12th and October 10th
The Recoil Rally™ is the premier youth shooting sports event in North Georgia. Attendees will learn about and get to fire pistols, rifles, shotguns, and black powder guns. Recoil Rally™ also includes live fire demonstrations of all sorts of firearms, including U.S. and foreign military-style rifles. Attendees also learn about firearm safety, how guns really work, suppressed fire, and what the current firearms laws are in the state of Georgia. The event is held at the Pickens County Sportsman's Club in north Georgia and is all under the supervision of trained NRA instructors and range safety officers.
Each year, a shooting competition (youth only) takes place to determine which attendee can out-shoot everyone else. The Troop with the best shooter will win a 22 carbine rifle. Lunch is included for paid participants only. Participation is limited to Trail Life USA and American Heritage Girls Troop members 14 years of age and older. Room is limited, so register today to reserve your group's spot at this exclusive event. No walk-ups. Online registration is required.
The first 30 AHG girls and TLUSA Trailmen under the age of 14 that sign up are invited to a fun day of archery, bb guns, and sling shots (date TBD). Cost is $25 which includes all materials, a shirt, and lunch. Troops, please sign up as a group. Sign up once for all attendees age 13 and younger and separately for all attendees age 14 and older. Please confirm availability of slots before submitting payment online.
The Recoil Rally has grown in popularity over the past 7 years to such an extent that it has reached its maximum enrollment earlier and earlier each year. The Pickens County Sportsman's Club can really only accommodate about 70 shooters due to volunteer staff size and the number of active ranges. On the day of the Recoil Rally, we totally max-out the ranges. To allow the greatest shooting experience for the youth, we want to keep the time-to-shoot to a minimum, and therefore keep each rotation to about 7 shooters. We have always maintained a first paid, first registered policy. Please watch the website for future announcements and we sincerely thank you for your interest in this unique youth shooting sports program.

Recoil Rally 2016
Congratulations to P. Thomas of Trail Life USA Troop TN-110 who won the 2016 grand prize!

The Recoil Rally is the premier youth shooting event in North Georgia. In past years, males and females 14 years and over have had the opportunity to experience shooting sports with all kinds of pistols including classic guns like flint-lock "pirate pistols", revolvers, and automatic handguns. 9mm Glock pistols have been used in speed-shooting competitions against metal targets. Rifles are also a big part of the Recoil Rally. Everything from .22 caliber rifles for marksmanship competitions, to black powder muskets, to shooting full-auto machine guns supervised by members of the Cherokee and Pickens County SWAT teams. Attendees have been able to shoot sniper rifles, including the classic Russian Dragunov, and military rifles such as the AK-47, M16/AR-15 M4 platforms, and the World War II M1 Garand. Demos are also given using suppressed firearms ("silencers") and the effectiveness of different kinds of ammunition. Seminars are conducted on the laws of Georgia and the USA regarding firearms. The Pickens County Sportsman's Club is a premier facility with many ranges geared toward different kinds of shooting (rifle ranges, pistol ranges, machine gun range, long distance range, shotgun and skeet ranges). Paper, metal, and even "exploding targets" can be used at these ranges. Everything is done with safety first as the driving consideration. All ranges are manned by NRA Range Safety Officers to assure that everything is done in a safe and orderly manner. This will be your best opportunity to shoot a variety of guns in different scenarios under expert supervision.
